Philanthropy has played a key role in the history of Shawnee Mission Medical Center. The impact can be seen each day, such as the Shull Institute for Surgical Robotics, Critical Care Services Expansion, Shawnee Mission Health Birth Center, Zamierowski Simulation Center, and current construction of the B.E. Smith Family Center. The Foundation is committed to enhancing both the high-tech and high-touch care for which SMH is known.

The Foundation Board of Directors work closely with Foundation staff and Shawnee Mission Health leadership to select and create opportunities for philanthropic giving. This includes facilities that provide direct care to members of our community and programs that have a life-changing, positive impact on health.

Giving to the Foundation touches an individual’s life; a baby clinging to life in the NICU, a child with special needs, a person healing deep wounds, a cardiac emergency patient, a person who just received news of a cancer diagnosis, and many others. Gifts heal people.
